Walter Dennis Kelly, 72, of Kennerdell, passed away on Sunday, June 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.Born July 12, 1943 in Franklin, Walter was the son of Walter Dempsey and Ruth Beebe Kelly. In September of 1995, he married Katherine Walker, who survives.Walter was a US Army Vietnam-era veteran, where he served in Germany. He enjoyed woodworking, and even built his own home. He worked as a machine operator at Mercer Forge.Walter is survived by his wife, Katherine; his son, Dennis Kelly, and his wife, Deborah, of Franklin; his daughter, Shannon Leigh Reed of Seneca; his step-children: Perry of Mercer, Thomas of Sandy Lake, and Kelly of AL; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is additionally survived by his brother, William Kelly, and his wife, Eileen, of NC; his sister, Sandra L. Slagel, and her husband, James, of Oil City; and his sister, Cynthia Rossman, and her husband, Larry, of Franklin.Walter was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Barbara.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin on Wednesday, June 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, June 8th at 11:00 a.m., with Minister Eileen Kelly, sister-in-law to Walter, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard following the funeral. I’m very sorry about the loss of your loved one. No doubt your grief will be overwhelming at times. Please take to heart the words from Our Heavenly Father at Isaiah 41:10…” Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will strengthen you, and really take hold of you by my right hand of righteousness .” He also promises a hope of the resurrection for all those we have lost in death (John 5:28,29).
