John Edward "Ed" Klingensmith, 73, of Franklin, died at 8:30 a.m. at his residence on Thursday, May 19th, surrounded by his loving family.Born July 20, 1942 in Riedsburg, PA, Ed was the son of the late John and Elva Haugh Klingensmith. On June 17, 1960, he married Connie Lieberum Klingensmith, who survives.Ed was a graduate of Clarion High School. He worked for more than 39 years at Joy Manufacturing as a Hydraulic Mechanic and Welder. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars and anything mechanical. Ed was also an avid woodworker, and enjoyed gardening, fishing, watching movies and Netflix, Steelers football, family gatherings and church events. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his three sons: Randy Klingensmith and his companion Alyssa Cornmesser of Franklin, Michael Klingensmith, of Franklin, and John Douglas "Doug" Klingensmith and his wife, Renee, of Mentor, Ohio. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Alisha Tarr and her husband, Jon, of Franklin, Adam Klingensmith of Franklin, Dakota Klingensmith of Pittsburgh, Rebecca and Anthony Klingensmith of Mentor, Ohio, Anna Marty of Franklin, and Austin and Justin Sosnowski of Titusville.Ed is additionally survived by two brothers: Charles Klingensmith and his wife, Judy, of Clarion, and William "Lee" Klingensmith and his wife, Nancy, of Franklin; and his sister, Louise Ferringer and her friend, Jack, of Clarion. Also surviving is a special brother-in-law Bill Lieberum and his wife Carol of Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Dennis Klingensmith, and his sister Marie Aaron.Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin PA 16323.A memorial service for Ed will be held at the Atlantic United Brethren in Christ Church at 11am on June 4, 2016 with the Rev. Gary Small, church pastor, officiating.
