Edward C. McCarren

Edward C. McCarren, 62, of Franklin, passed away on Friday, July 1st at 1:35 p.m. at his residence. Born May 22, 1954, Ed was the son of the late William E. and Jane Marie Hays McCarren. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing horseshoes, golf, baseball, and softball. He also participated in demolition derbys and enjoyed hunting, campfires, and canoeing. He was an avid Steelers fan.Ed's pride and joy was his daughter, Rachel. He adored his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, as well.Ed is survived by his daughter, Rachel McCarren, of Franklin; his brother, Fred McCarren, of Utica; and his sisters: Dawn Ward of Utica, and Susan J. Burger, and her husband, Brian, of Cooperstown.Ed was preceded in death by his parents.Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street in Franklin, on Thursday, July 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held following visitation, on Thursday, July 7th at 7:00 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Jones, retired hospice pastor, officiating.
