Edgar E. Uncle Ed Five Buckles Montgomery, 79, of Franklin sadly went to rejoice with our Lord and Savior and with the many he's missed over the years who have passed before him at 2:05 AM ,December 16, 2013 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 02, 1934 in Franklin, PA, Edgar was the son of the late Rennie and Mildred (Ditzenberger) Montgomery. He was a 1953 graduate of Franklin Area High School. Edgar proudly served our country in the Army Reserves for six years. On February 19, 1959 he married Audrey Hines, who survives. Edgar was employed as a equipment operator for Sandycreek Township until the time of his retirement. Ed immensely enjoyed hunting in PA and out west, taking the gun for a walk, fishing, going for a walk or riding his 4-wheeler every evening, walking in the woods, the outdoors, tinkering in the garage, fixing small engines, recycling anything to be recycled, many knew him for gathering cans at the Sandycreek Township, woodworking, putting puzzles together then framing them, and then giving to others what he had made, visiting with people, drinking his coffee everyday, traveling with his lovely wife of 54 years, sitting around a fire and sharing stories, and riding his bike on the bike trail. He always thought of others before himself. He was a very giving, thoughtful, kind and loving person. He was always there to lend a hand to whoever needed it. He was always joking with others, there was always laughter when he was present. Most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren; Cody Roxberry and his fiance Michelle Bell, Colton Turnipseed, and Brittney Turnipseed, they were his pride and joy. He never missed a sporting event or anything they were in. He loved to hunt with them or just sit and visit with them, anything they were involved in he was there. He is also survived by his daughter, Sandy Montgomery and her significant other, Paul Gierlach, who has lost her hunting buddy, a friend, but most of all...her Dad, I love you Dad. He is additionally survived by his brother, Stanley Montgomery and his wife, Maxine, of Franklin and many nieces and nephews who truly cherished him. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Thursday, December 19, 2013, from 3:00PM - 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Church of the Nazarene, 393 Pone Lane, Franklin, with Rev. David Smith pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment will be in Graham Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Nazarene, 393 Pone Lane, Franklin, PA 16323 . 1. The world has truly lost a kind and generous soul. So sorry for your loss. Heaven is rejoicing with its newest angel. We know Ed is riding around on a 4 wheeler checking things out up there. Blessings to you all.

  2. Audrey and family,

Ted and I are so very sorry to hear of Ed’s passing.  Our hearts go out to you and your family.  Your smile at church is always a welcome site and may your faith and hope in our Lord be your strength at this time.  We have been and will continue praying for God to shower you with his peace during this very difficult time.  Much love –

  3. Audrey and family,

So sorry for your loss. We aways enjoyed talking to Ed when I would run into him.
He always had a wry wit and and a ready smile or joke to pull on someone .
I will never forget the camping at Pymatuning and Ed’s description of how he liked hot dogs cooked – ” black as your hat”. Good thing – that was the only way I could cook them.

  4. Audrey & family,
We are all saddened at the loss of “Suzi” I will never forget how he always teased the boys when they saw him. I know Dan thought of him as another grandpa. We will surely miss him. He always had a story to tell that would make us laugh. Please know we are thinking of you all. Heaven needed another angel, just sorry they took yours.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to help. Thoughts and prayers to you.

  5. Audrey and family,    So sorry for your loss.    He will be missed greatly.  I will never forget the time we all went catfishing at night years ago and Ed set off a firecracker…talk about a jokester!  Will be thinking of you in our prayers.
