Lawrence DeWayne Kilgore, age 79, of Patchel Run Road, Franklin, died at 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the Caring Place. A son of the late Howard J. and Leona Coulter Kilgore, he was born May 3, 1933 in Franklin. Mr. Kilgore was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. He was also a former member of the Moose. Lawrence enjoyed making Christmas wreaths, walking, wood working, and his friends and family. He liked working on cars and was very proud of his home. He was employed as an erector and a foreman for Chicago Pneumatic Tool for 42 years prior to his retirement in 1982. He had also been employed by Franklin Industrial and as a bartender at the Moose Club. Surviving is his wife, Margaret OBrien Kilgore, whom he married April 15, 1966; former wife, Lolly Tarr of Polk; two sons, Jim Kilgore and wife Pam of West Virginia, Bob Kilgore and wife Carol of Titusville; three brothers, Paul Kilgore and wife JoAnne of Franklin, Don Kilgore and wife Sue of Kileen, TX, Bob Kilgore and wife Kathy of Franklin; two sisters, Florence Scriven of Franklin, Alice Beatty of Conneaut Lake; eleven grandchildren, Bob Kilgore, Jr, Dale Kilgore, Scott Kilgore, Anita Lowrie, Ashley Perry and her husband, Joe Anntonucci, Tyler Perry, Meri Beth Glenn, Bill Kilgore, Mike Kilgore, Amanda Bavuso, Katie Ralf, and Schevell Kilgore; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, DeWayne Kilgore; a brother, James Kilgore; three sisters, Ruth ONeil, Mary Updyke, Grace ONeil; and a granddaughter, Ann Marie Kilgore. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph P. Martin, Jr. of the Cooperstown United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Venango County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301 and/or the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Center Blvd., Ste. 700, Pittsburgh, PA 15235-5507.
