Edward Keener, 48, of 127 Titan Lane, Franklin, passed away at his residence at 8:48 a.m. on Friday, April 12th, 2013. Born August 10, 1965 in Franklin, Ed was the son of Clarence (Ike) Keener Sr. and Betty Hulings Umstead. He was a 1983 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and later attended Clarion University to obtain his Paramedic Certification. Ed was married to the former Cindy Vogan, and she survives. Ed worked for Community Ambulance as a Paramedic and as a Deputy Coroner under former Venango County Coroner, John Greggs. He was a member of the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his granddaughter, Alyssa. Ed also enjoyed spending time with his dogs and cats. In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his mother, Betty Umstead of Franklin; his step-mother, Sylvia Keener, of Franklin; his son, Edward Keener Jr., and his wife, Joni, of Knox; his daughter, Mamie Keener and her fiance', Matt Thomas, of Grand Valley; and his granddaughter, Alyssa Keener. He is also survived by his brothers, Clarence Keener, Jr., and his wife, Robin, John Keener and his wife, Shelly, and Dustin Keener and his wife, Bobbi, all of Franklin; his sisters, Gina Latchaw and her husband, Elton, and Amanda Keener, both of Franklin. Ed is additionally survived by his father-in-law, Donald Vogan, of Franklin; his sister-in-law, Sharon Orr and her husband, John, of Dayton, TN; and his brother-in-law, Larry Vogan, of Franklin. Ed was preceded in death by his father; and his mother-in-law, Josephine Vogan. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Sunday, April 14, from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, April 15 at 11 a.m., with Rev. David Smith, pastor of the Franklin Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow in Morrison Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Venango County Humane Society - PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16323 and/or the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department. Ed was one of our favorite uncles and we have lots of memories of him and that is how we will remember him!!  We could not attend the funeral but we are there in thought and sending our prayers and lots and lots of hugs to the family!!  We love ya’ll!!!  R.I.P. uncle Ed…we will see you soon!!!
