Donald C. Sheffer, 77, of Cochranton, PA died at his home on Friday, June 14, 2013 of natural causes. Born April 19, 1936 in Victory Heights, PA, Donald was the son of John D. Sheffer and Laree Day of Franklin, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, James A. Scheffer and Warren (Duran) Sheffer; his son Donald E. Sheffer of Tylersburg; and one great-grandson, Brandon Sheffer. Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Savinna I. (Doverspike) Sheffer and seven children, John W. Sheffer and wife, Hallie of Fairfield, PA; Linda Wareham and husband, Ronald of Stoneboro, PA; George C. Sheffer and wife, Juanita (Chip) of Greenville, PA; Harry Sheffer and wife, Marsha of Smethport, PA; Dale Sheffer of Cochranton, PA; Patricia Paris and husband, Tim of Plainfield, Indiana; and Mark Sheffer and wife, Tabitha of Spring Branch, Texas. He is additionally survived by 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Mr. Sheffer was retired from Joy Manufacturing after 33 years of service. Donald was a member of the Pioneer Steam Gas Engine Society and the Nitney Antique Machinery Association. He was also a life member of the NRA, the Mercer County Antique Power Association, and the Oil City Cycle Club. He enjoyed gardening and tractor shows. He was also a volunteer for the Utica Volunteer Fire Department. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, June 17, 2013, from 3-7 pm. The family will conduct a funeral service on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Knox Union Cemetery The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Utica Firehall and/or the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society.
