Born in: Belle View, Pennsylvania

Carlton H. Kerr was born April 13, 1929 in Bellvue, Pittsburgh, PA. He was the only child of J. Herbert Harriet V. Kerr. Carlton passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the age of 84 in Cincinnati, Ohio ready to meet his Maker and Saviour. Carlton graduated from Grove City High School after attending three years at Wesley High School. He was married to the former Edna C. Dunlap on July 19, 1957, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Paula Farmer and her husband, Kenneth; and his three grandchildren, Katrina, Carlton his wife, Jackie, and Kenneth R. Jr. and his wife, Shelby. After returning from serving in the Army during the Korean War, Carlton went to work at the Cooper Bessemer Industries in 1947 and retired from there in 1991. Carlton was known to be a fun-loving, practical jokester with whom many of his friends and co-workers were recipients of those pranks. He was a big kid at heart, always enjoying playing with his grandchildren and yes, even playing pranks on them. He was caring, loyal, independent, strong and steady and very capable of solving just about any problem and fixing just about anything. He was quite the handyman and mechanic. He loved traveling, taking his family on a two-week vacation every year, driving across the United States and up into Canada and British Columbia. The fun times included us planning the vacation many weeks prior to leaving. Wonderful memories were made on those journeys. Not only was he a memory-maker, but also an entertainer, playing the harmonica beautifully and reciting stories and poems. One of his favorites and the grandchildrens was Little Orphan Annie Came to our House to Stay. Oh, how we miss you! Family and Friends will be received from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 1:00 PM on Friday with the Rev. Jonathan Bell, pastor of the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church and Richard Price, former pastor of the same said church for many years, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
