Vergil Hines Vergil Hines, 100, of Doerr Road, Franklin, passed away at 6:15 a.m. at The Caring Place in Franklin on Friday, July 20, 2012. Born December 15, 1911 in Plum Township, Venango County, Vergil was the son of the late William H. and Eliza Teed Hines. He was married to the former Kathryn Baker and she preceded him in death in 1998. Vergil was retired from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in 1975 where he worked as an accountant. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Franklin, where he was a very active member. He had been a member of Meals on Wheels for 20 years. Vergil was a 1930 graduate and class valedictorian of Rocky Grove High School, and also a graduate of Welch's Business College in Oil City. He loved to read his daily devotions. His hobbies included putting together puzzles, and helping his wife make quilts. Vergil is survived by his 5 children, James Hines and his wife, Brenda of Fort Wayne, Indiana, John Hines and his wife, Bonnie of Franklin, Joan Cureton and her husband, Dr. Charles, of Canton, Ohio, Audrey Montgomery and her husband, Edgar, of Franklin, and Mary Consla and her husband, Bill, of Franklin. He is also survived by his 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, Vergil was preceded in death by his foster daughter, Twila Lowry; 4 sisters; 3 brothers; and a great-grandchild. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Sunday, July 22 from 3 - 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Franklin on Monday, July 23 at 11 a.m. with Rev. David Smith, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Cooperstown Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.
