Geraldine Cooke, 82, of Timberlodge Lane, Spring Hill, Florida, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born July 11, 1929 in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Gordon S. and Aurora (LaVoie) Hopkins. She was married on September 8, 1951 to Robert F. Cooke, who preceded her in death. Geraldine was a graduate of the nursing program at Truesdale Hospital, Fall River, MA with a B.S. degree from Emmaniel College, Boston, MA. She had a long distinguished career as a R.N. She helped to develop and directed a nursing training program at Union Hospital, New Bedford, MA and was an operating room supervisor and a school nurse in Braintree, MA. She often provided care for her neighbors and acted as a Good Samaritan to strangers, with a servant's heart. Geraldine is survived by her sons Curtis W. Cooke and his wife, Debra of Franklin and Robert S. Cooke and his wife, Kristin of Mayville, NY; her sister, Jacqueline McCawley and her husband, Paul of Naples, FL; 10 grandchildren, Charity Winters and her husband, Timothy of Seldovia, AK, Sarah Cooke Hengemuhle and her husband, Michael of Leesburg, VA, Jesse Cooke of Charlotte, NC, Nathanael Cooke and his wife, Lindsey of Laconia, NH, Nicholas Cooke and his wife, Tara of Charlotte, NC, Isaiah Cooke of Polk, Matthias Cooke of Charlotte, NC, and Bethany Cooke, Elijah Cooke, and Isaac Cooke, all of Polk; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held this summer in the New Bedford, Massachusetts area. Interment will be made in New Bedford Rural Cemetery in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is in charge of arrangements.
