Clair Webster Vogus, 85, of The Caring Place ,Franklin died peacefully at 1:05 PM ,November 21, 2012 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca, with his loving wife, Mary, at his side. Born January 4, 1927 in Franklin, PA, Clair was the Son of the late Martin and Lena Ruth (McGinnis) Vogus. He was married to Mary Brown on April 21, 1995, and she survives. Clair proudly served his country in The Army from 1954-1962, serving in both the Philippines and the Panama Canal. Clair was employed as a Machinist for JM Manufacturing and Shaw industries. He also was a tool and die maker in California and ran a gas station and drove a taxi in Anchorage, Alaska. He enjoyed bowling, pitching horseshoes, hunting, building with his hands, gardening, and playing cards. Clair enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his spouse, Clair is survived by his daughters; Nicole Vogus of New Port News, VA, Cindy Mize and her husband, Robert, of McAlister, OK, Andrea Ciko of Sparta, KY, his son James Parker and his husband, Michael Hovis, of Franklin, and his adopted daughter Miravic Vicki Jackson and her husband, Douglas, of Oil City. Clair is also survived by his brother Merle Vogus of Burgettstown, PA, his sisters; Lola Rial of Franklin, and Geraldine Brown and her husband, William, of Franklin, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his three brothers; Glenn, Everett, and Wayne Vogus, his infant sister, Ruby Vogus, and a great-grandchild. Family and friends of Clair will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Monday, November 26th, 2012, from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 27th, 2012 at The Caring Place, 103 N. 13Th Street, Franklin, with Rev. Linda Deeter, Chaplin of The Caring Place officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Community Services of Venango County, 203 Center Street, Oil City, PA 16301, The Salvation Army, 302 13th Street, Franklin, PA 16323, and/or a charity of ones choice.
