Ruth E. Aiken, 86, of 502 Grant Street, Franklin died peacefully on December 22, 2012 at her residence. Born December 23, 1925 in Franklin, PA, Ruth was the daughter of the late Paul and Gladys (Reynolds) Steele. She was married to Richard F. Aiken, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2000. Ruth was employed as a Custodian for Franklin Area High School, prior to her retirement in 1988. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and her dog Benji. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Paula Harrah of Rocky Grove, and Sherry Aiken of Franklin; her grandchildren, Jeffery P. Aiken of Franklin, Tammi Rodgers and her husband, Michael, of Franklin, Kelly Miller and her husband, Jason, of Rocky Grove, Shawn Harrah and his wife, Vickie, of Rocky Grove, and Eric Aiken of Franklin; her four great-grandchildren, Colton Miller, Peyton Miller, Jarrett Aiken, and Lauren Aiken, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Benji. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sons, Richard E. Aiken and Charles A. Aiken, and her brothers, Paul Steele and Robert Steele. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society, PO Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
