Born in: Heilwood, Pennsylvania
Emogene MacDonald, our loving mother, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at 1:55 AM ,January 16, 2013 at home surrounded by her family after a heroic and valiant battle with cancer. Born February 1, 1932 in Heilwood, PA, Emogene was the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen Elizabeth (Byers) Lunn. She attended Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh and was employed there as an administrative secretary upon her graduation. She married our dearly departed father Glenn MacDonald on September 26, 1952 and was married for 45 years before his passing in 1997. Our mom loved the outdoors. She was an avid golfer and spent a lot of time in the woods with us at the family cabins near Cook Forest. An awesome mother, cook and volunteer to the community, she was blessed with many friends as we have been blessed with their compassion and generosity throughout her illness. Her faith was the cornerstone of her strength along with a family she cared for deeply and friends she cherished. We will miss her dearly but know shes in the lap of God and with those whove gone before her. Surviving are her devoted children, Scott MacDonald, wife Donna Marie and their son, Logan of St. Louis, MO; Susan MacDonald and partner Melissa Bible of Erie; and Richard MacDonald, wife Lori and their sons Brett and Tyler of Polk. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Richard Lunn. Family and friends of Emogene will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Sunday January 20, 2013, from 2-6 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday January 21, 2013 at 11 AM the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin, 1250 Elk Street, with Rev. Barry Jenkins, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery . The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Kirtland Cancer Foundation, PO Box 108, Franklin, PA 16323 and/or The Visiting Nurses Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd, Franklin, PA 16323, and/or the First Presbyterian Church, 1250 Elk Street, Franklin, PA 16323.
