William "Bill" Killinger, 78, of Bully Hill Road, Franklin, died at 8:19 a.m., Thursday, January 26, 2012 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born March 21, 1933 in Akron, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ira and Carrie Killinger. Bill served in the United States Navy during peacetime and was a quality control inspector for OYO-GEO Space in Houston, TX. He was a member of the Salvation Army in Oil City and enjoyed oil painting and plants. Mr. Killinger married the former Glenda Howton on October 10, 1981, and she survives. William is also survived by his children, William Killinger, Jr. of Akron, OH, Charles Killinger and his wife, Linny of Akron, Fred Killinger, and his wife, Shellie of Akron, Ed McDonald of Erie, Meg Wallace and her husband, Lawrence of Akron, and Sherry McDonald and her fiance, Ronnie of Franklin; a brother, Howard Killinger and his wife, Julie of Florida; a sister-in-law, Annie Killinger of Akron; 26 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Molly, in 1980; a daughter, Glenda Foster; a grandson, Scott Foster; a brother, Chuck Killinger; a sister, Shirley Smith; and his best buddies, Harley and Cleo. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oil City Salvation Army, 217 Sycamore Street, Oil City with Major Paul Downing, officiating. Interment will be made in Mount Peace Cemetery in Akron, OH. Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin is handling the arrangements. The family suggests memorials be made to Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc. to help defray funeral costs.
