Clarence A. Simpson

Clarence Simpson, Jr., 71, of Hancock Road, Canal Township, passed away at 6:50 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born in Franklin, December 11, 1939, Clarence was the son of the late Clarence A. and Erma Dalmaso Simpson, Sr. He was married October 16, 1957 to the former Patricia Louise Dye, and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1991. Clarence retired from Polk Center in 1989 after working there as a custodian for 32 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Clarence is survived by his two sons, Richard Clarence Simpson of Cochranton and his fiancee', Mary Spires, and David Alan Simpson, Sr., and his wife, Penny, of Franklin; and his daughter, Pamela Haney and her husband, Richard, of Cooperstown. Clarence was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Jeff Simpson and his wife, Dani, Jodi Simpson and her husband, Robert Straw, Jamie Simpson and her special friend, Blair Steinecker, David Simpson Jr., Justin Simpson, Brandon Simpson, Brandi Simpson, all of Franklin, James Haney and his special friend, Hilary Summers, and Jessica Williams and her husband, Joshua, of Cooperstown, and Jaclyn Haney of Franklin and her fiance, Greg Myers. In addition to his parents and wife, Clarence was preceded in death by his grandson, Jason Simpson; his brother, Richard Vance Simpson; and infant brother; and two infant sisters. Friends and family will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Wednesday, April 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services for Clarence will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28 at 11 a.m., with Rev. David Smith, pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Garden.
