Eleanor E. Kelly Eleanor E. Kelly, 83, of Chestnut Street, Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at her residence at 5:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 1. Born December 5, 1926, in Kennerdell, Eleanor was the daughter of the late William Harrison and Mary Sager Karns. She married Russell Paul Kelly on January 10, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 20, 1970. She was a 1944 graduate of Franklin High School. Prior to her retirement in 1994, Eleanor had worked as a Supervisor at First National Bank of PA for more than 28 years. She had been very active at the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church, where she had been a member for more than 60 years. Eleanor was very proud to be a life-member of the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Stroke Survivors Group. Eleanor enjoyed baking and making cookies. She was an active collector of coins and post cards. She also enjoyed embroidery and quilting and had made quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Larry Kelly and his wife, Linda, of Franklin, and Michael Kelly and his wife, Beth, of Bedford, New Hampshire; and her daughter, Paula Swasta and her husband, Bill, of St. Marys. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Christopher Swasta and his wife, Kristin, of St. Marys, Todd Kelly and his wife, Deanna, of York, PA, Jennifer Keas and her husband, Jon, of Franklin, Andy Swasta and his wife, Jodi, of St. Marys, Abby Peppin, and Allie Parent and her husband, Pat, of Bedford, New Hampshire; and her nine great-grandchildren. Additionally, Eleanor is survived by her three brothers, Donald Karns and his wife, Mary Ellen, Charles Karns and his wife, Hazel, and John Karns and his wife, Pat, all of Franklin; and her sister, Mary Grace Simpson of Carson City, Nevada; and her very special friend, Robert Gilmore. In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by her three brothers, Hank Karns, Bill Karns, and James Karns; her three sisters, Harriet Parker, Myrtle Rearick and Anna Wagner; and her sister-in-law, Twila Karns. Family and friends may call at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, December 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services for Eleanor will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, December 4 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Parker, pastor of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Sandy Lake.
