Hazel Agnes Lynch Hazel Agnes Lynch, 95, of 312 McCleery Road, Franklin PA, died at 8:55 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2010 at The Caring Place in Franklin. Born August 19, 1914, in Franklin, she was the daughter of of James Harold and Agnes Luella Burns McCleery. She was married on May 3, 1950 to James Burd Lynch, who preceded her in death in July 1969. Mrs. Lynch attended the Third Ward Public School, Sugarcreek School, Franklin High School and graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1932. Due to the Great Depression, she did not attend college until 1937. She attended Clarion Teacher's College. While attending Clarion Teacher's College, she stayed at the home of the Harry Manson family (he was the head of the Biology Department at Clarion College), where she worked for room and board. She also took night classes in Franklin from Edinboro Teacher's College. Mrs. Lynch graduated from college in 1940. She was a teacher at McCune School,from 1940 to 1942, where she taught all 8 grades. She then taught at Lupher School from 1942 to 1948, then taught at Cochranton Elementary School until her retirement in May 1972. Mrs. Lynch had lived in the same house on McCleery Road since she was 6 years old, except for about 2 years after she was married. She then returned to McCleery Road to live again and help her parents who had health problems. Mrs. Lynch enjoyed reading, music, antiques, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Rocky Grove Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy McCleery McMullen and her children - Dale McCleery, Aletha Fink and her husband, Daniel, and their children, Jeremy, Joshua, and Kristin Fink. She is also survived by her niece ,Donna Parlamant and her son, Dr. Robert Mays and his wife, Jill. She is also survived by special friends, Russell Baker and Betty Sheffer. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Clinton McCleery , David Burns McCleery and his wife, Marjorie ; her sister-in-law; and her nephews, Dennis and James. Family and friends may call on Friday, January 22 from 10 to 11 am at the Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral Services for Mrs. Lynch will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, January 22 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Jantz, pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, presiding.   1. I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mrs. Lynch. She was my second grade teacher at Cochranton Elementary in the early 50’s. I remember her wonderful smile, her reading us stories and telling us about the beautiful birds!
