Margaret E. Masters, 78, of 232 Seneca St, Apt. 102 in Oil City, died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at 12:48 pm at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born January 21, 1931 in Franklin, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Patterson Sanford. Margaret was a homemaker, wife and mother. She volunteered at Creekside Center and the Oil City Salvation Army for a number of years. After her retirement from volunteering, she enjoyed being with her family for holiday picnics and to give thanks on Thanksgiving. She also enjoyed celebrating Christmas. She also appreciated her son's dog, Spike. She was married on September 15, 1950 to Henry C. Masters at the Atlantic Avenue United Brethren in Christ Church. Her husband preceded her in death August 29, 1995. She is survived by two sons, George Masters and his companion, Marcy of Meadville Pike, Franklin and Charles Masters and his girlfriend, Sue O'Neil of Franklin; a daughter, Marvelyn Masters of Taylor St., Franklin; son-in-law, Sam Ginnery of Reno, PA; one brother, William J. Sanford and his wife, Sue of Oil City; and a sister, Alice Sanford of Oil City. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, Sarah Moore of Oil City, C.J. Moore of Florida, Curtis Masters of Ohio, Nicole Masters of Florida, Charles Masters, Jr. of Virginia, Pamela Masters of South Dakota, Amanda Snowden of Oil City, Carolyn Masters of Oil City, Noah Masters of Oil City, April Spencer of Oil City, Jennifer Snyder and her husband, David Hall of Franklin; 19 great grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and all of her friends at Seneca Courts Apartments in Oil City. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Moore and Rosemary A. Ginnery; a grandson, Larry Snyder, Jr.; three brothers, LeRoy, Charles and George Sanford; and one sister, Ethel Jean Hood. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street Franklin, on Sunday, October 18, 2009 from 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:00 pm at the Funeral Home with the Rev. George H. Ruth of the Power Of The Word Ministry presiding.
