Joseph K. Cioppa, 52, of 2725 Old Route 8, Franklin, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at his residence after being chronically ill for many years. Born Aug. 31, 1956, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Joseph C. and Agnes Dunlap Cioppa. He was a 1974 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. Joseph was led to Christ by the Rev. Jonathan Bell. Mr. Cioppa was employed by several tool & die companies: Shaw Industries of Franklin, Dresser Industries of Bradford and Mattel Toys of El Segundo, Calif. He also worked for a tool & die company in Malaysia. He was self-employed most recently. He is survived by a sister, Peggy Lang and her husband, Thomas, of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews, Randy Bell and his wife, Lori, of Franklin, Rick Bell and his wife, Karen, of Franklin, Robin Bell of Franklin, Roxanne Foster and her husband, Don, of Utica, and Robert McMichael of Naples, Fla. Also surviving are two great-nieces, Courtney Bell and Nichole Bell, both of Franklin; and one great-nephew, Corey Bell, of Franklin. Joseph was extremely close to his nephews, Randy and Rick Bell, their families and his sister, Peg. He very much enjoyed his time with his entire family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia C. McMichael on Oct. 31, 2008. Joe had a very outgoing personality and everyone will miss his quick wit and sense of humor, along with his smiling disposition. He was always so very grateful for any kindness shown to him. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Jonathan Bell of the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Venango County Humane Society, Deep Hollow Road, Franklin, or the Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1333 Buffalo St., Franklin.
