Sally L Bergin
February 19, 1943 ~ September 7, 2008
Sally Jones Sibley Bergin died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, at the end of a struggle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded in the love of her husband, family and dearest friends. She was born on Feb. 19, 1943, and was the daughter of Lt. Col. Floyd C. Jones and Lois J. Neidich Jones. Sally spent many of her early years moving throughout the eastern U.S. with her military family, but eventually came to settle in the town of Franklin. She became part of the very close and special Franklin High School Class of 1960. Many of her classmates are among her dearest friends. Sally was well known and respected throughout the community for her 35 years of service as a registered nurse at the offices of pediatrician Dr. Van Tilburg; oncologist Dr. Kirtland; the VNA; and as an IV Team Specialist at Northwest Medical Center. She will be remembered by her patients for her kindness, compassion and gregarious spirit. Her membership to St. John's Episcopal Church was supremely important to her. She served there as a member of vestry, junior warden, greeting committee chair, altar guild member, Tiffany window docent and many other forms of congregational support. Sally enjoyed studying genealogy at the Franklin Library and Venango County Courthouse and traveled around the tri-county area for her research. She spent much of her last few years traveling around the Caribbean. In May 2007, she and her husband (an experienced sailor) took their family on a once in a lifetime sailboat cruise through the British Virgin Islands. The sailboat crew included her two sons, her grandson and granddaughter. Above all, Sally will be dearly missed by her family, which includes her husband, Edward J. Bergin; her children, Mark Sibley and girlfriend, Brenda Alexander, Cheri Ward Sibley, Matthew and Pam Logsdon Sibley, all of Franklin and Michele and Steven Gibson of Meadville; a step-daughter, Kim Olsen of Waldorf, Md.; her only sister, Peggy Jones Tidd of Franklin; and her mother, Lois Jones of Sugarcreek Station. Her passing is also grieved by Donald Sibley of Franklin. Her greatest joy throughout her life was being a grandmother to her eight grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Sibley, Mitchell and Crissy Sibley, Maxwell and Jacob Cramer and Alex Gibson and Natalie Stathos. She was preceded in death by her hero and dad, Lt. Col. Floyd C. Jones. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St., Franklin. Funeral services for Sally will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Holly Ann Davis officiating. Interment will be in Graham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or to the Franklin Library. Condolences can be sent on line at www.gardinierfuneralhome.com.

Dear Ed,
Due to a prior work committment, I was unable to accompany Blaine to the funeral home. It was always enjoyable being in Sally’s company. She welcomed everyone warmly to your home and made them feel comfortable. The picture in her obituary depicts her true character. She told me of your highschool romance and how nice it was to “find you aain”. My deepest sympathy goes to you in this time of sadness and loss. This was to be a weekend of happy times with Lou and Sally would have loved it.

I am very saddened to read about Sally’s death. I babysat for Sally’s children many years ago on the Pittsburgh Road. My thoughts are with you all.
Shelley and family,
I am so saddened to hear of your mom’s passing. She was a great lady with a hearty laugh and a great zest for life and love of family. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
I was so very sad to hear of Sally’s passing. I recently visited Franklin and was able to see her about 2 1/2 weeks ago. We worked together on the IV Team at Northwest Medical Center for many years. Our parents also knew each other. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Dear Mrs Jones, Peggy and all of Sally’s family. The picture in the paper was the way I always remembered Sally – that great big smile was infectious which I’m certain in echoing in Heaven. For years Sally was like a big sister of sorts as Peggy and her friends grew up.
I know she will be missed. My prayers and condolences go out to each and everyone of you. God Bless. With Loving Fondness.
Shelley,
Both Becky and I are greatly surprised and saddened by the loss of your mom. I have known Sally for most of my life as we grew up in the First Baptist Church in Franklin.
Please accept our deep concern for you; we are sure Sally is with the Lord. God bless you and the boys..Tom and Becky Barnes
