Louella Irene Mong, 77, of 1802 Rocky Grove Ave., Franklin, died at 3:26 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at UPMC Northwest. Born March 26, 1931, in Franklin, she was the daughter of Hugh Powell and Mildred Lawson-Jones. She was married Dec. 14, 1956, to Edgar Kenneth Mong, who preceded her in death in October 2000. Mrs. Mong was a retired co-owner of Ken's Carpet Cleaning that she ran with her husband for more than 30 years. She also worked at Arnold Manifold. She enjoyed reading, listening to music and spending time with her family. She also helped out at Mong's Greenhouse. Mrs. Mong is survived by three children, Dana K. Mong and his wife, Tammy, of Franklin, Tommy J. Mong and his wife, Sally, of Franklin, and Tammy S. Haylett and her husband, Lawrence, of Franklin; 10 grandchildren, DeWane K. Mong of Warren, Kevin J. Mong and his wife, Rene, of Titusville, Amber A. Guiste and her husband, David, of Franklin, and Randy J. Mong, Ashley M. Flinspach, Karen S. Mong, Laura L. Haylett, Dean A. Mong, Kenneth R. Haylett and Christy S. Mong, all of Franklin; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mong is also survived by two sisters, Mae Michaels of Franklin and Janet Crawford and her husband, Clarence, of Guys Mills; a brother, Leroy Jones of Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Mong of Franklin and Mary Green of Erie; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Mong was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Green; and an infant son, Wayne Mong. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc. in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Bell officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
