Elizabeth Jane Tarr, 70, of Sugar Creek Station, 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, previously of 307 Front St., died at 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at Sugar Creek Station. Born Feb. 24, 1938, in Oil City, she was a daughter of Raymond and Mary Koziara Staron. Mrs. Tarr was employed as a cashier at Shop 'N Save, Comet, Big Lots and Sears. She also worked as a nurses aide at Sugar Creek Station and baby-sat in her home. She was a member of St. Patrick Church. Mrs. Tarr was also a member of the Moose Club and held several offices in the Women of the Moose. She was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and was a PTA member. She was married Oct. 25, 1958, to Richard D. Tarr, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her mother, Mary Koziara Staron, a resident of Golden Living Center; and three children, Kevin Tarr and his wife, Cynthia, of Oil City, Michael Tarr of St. Petersburg and Pamela Tarr Garren and her husband, Kenneth Garren Sr., of Rocky Grove. Survivors also include seven grandchildren, Tyler Garren, Shawn Tarr, Abigail Tarr, Nicole Walters and her husband, George Jr., Kevin Cartney, Jonathan Cartney and Jacob Cotherman; one great-grandchild, George Walters III; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Staron; and a brother, Richard Staron. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gardinier Funeral Home, 1315 Chestnut St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Church with Msgr. John J. Herbien, pastor, as celebrant. A Christian wake will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
