Kenneth L McCauley

Kenneth L. McCauley, 86, of 68 Mechanic St., Rouseville, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at UPMC Northwest. Born Aug. 27, 1921, in Fryburg, he was the son of Arthur Lewis McCauley and Grace Irene Mohr McCauley. He was a veteran of World War II, with the U.S. Army. Mr. McCauley was employed as a painter with Manion Steel Barrell. He was married to Betty J. McCauley, and she preceded him in death. He was a member of VFW Post 464 in Oil City, PNA Club Post 905 in Oil City, the Pulaski Club in Oil City and the Fryburg Sportsman Club. Mr. McCauley enjoyed time at his cottage along the Allegheny River. He is survived by two children, Sandra "Peach" Crawford and her husband, Nate, and Sharan "Penny" Sharrer and her husband, Allen Sr., all of Franklin; five grandchildren, Betty Lee Deets, Becky Lynn Crawford, Kendy Forsell and Allen R. Sharrer Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, all of Franklin, and Kenneth L. Sharrer and his girlfriend, Tammy, of Oil City; 10 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Grace Proper and her husband, Gerald, of Oil City; a brother, Donald McCauley and his wife, Nancy, of Fryburg; a special friend, Betty Karns; and special neighbors, Robert and Sally Wolf. It was possible for Mr. McCauley to continue to live at his residence due to the help of Robert and Sally and his grandson, Kenny Sharrer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty J. McCauley, whom he married May 27, 1944. She died June 26, 1992. Also preceeding him in death were a granddaughter, Sara Jane Crawford; three brothers, Arthur, Gerald and John McCauley; and four sisters, Frances Geesey, Dorothy Sandrock, Ardelle Gifford and infant, Betty McCauley. There will be no visitation Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mr. McCauley's summer home, 203 W. Riverview Road in Oleopolis, with the Rev. Ronald C. Bole, VNA Hospice pastor, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Robert W. Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., in Franklin. I am so sorry for your loss. Kenny was so loved by everyone who knew him. It is nice you are having his services at the river. He was such a fixture there, and will be greatly missed.
