Shirley L. McClain, 76, of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, September 22 at UPMC - Northwest in Seneca.Born on July 15, 1939, Shirley was the daughter of the late Arthur and Olive Whiteman Plyler. Shirley was married to William R. McClain, who preceded her in death in 2002.Shirley worked at the meat department at Shop N Save. She attended Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed her family and grandchildren.Shirley is survived by her son, William R. McClain, and his wife, Debbie, of Cooperstown; her daughter, Jami Thurau, and her husband, Michael, of Franklin; and her two sisters-in-law, Darlene Montgomery of Franklin and Carol McClain of Jackson Center. She is additionally survived by her four grandchildren; Megan McClain, and her fiance, James Hoover; Matthew McClain; Mitchell Thurau; and Kayla Burkett; her two great-grandchildren, Raelynn Strouse and McKenna Burkett; several nieces and nephews; as well as many loved friends and neighbors.In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her seven brothers, Gene, Robert, Alvin, Arthur, Melvin, Harry, and Donald Plyler; and her two sisters, Jane McMunn and Mable Zeigler. She was the last surviving member of her family.Per Shirley's request, no services will be held. Bill, Jami and families, My deepest sorrow for your loss of such a wonderful mother and very wonderful lady. Shirley spend many hours taking care of my children years ago.
