Francis "Joe" Joseph Slater Jr., 49, of McCalmont Street ,Franklin died at 9:34 PM Sunday ,July 20, 2014 at UPMC-Hamot. Born November 2, 1964 in Titusville, Francis was the son of Francis Joseph, Sr. and Joan (Wagner) Slater. He was a 1984 graduate of Rocky Grove High School.Joe was employed as a Tow Truck Driver for Lowry Auto Body.He was a board member of the 15th annual Neil Sneeringer & Fallen Friend Motorcycle and Car Rally. Joe enjoyed riding his motorcycle, his vast collection of T-Shirts, and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, who affectionately called him "Uncle Knucklehead". In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his daughters, Ashleigh Morrow, Amber Slater, and Alyssa Slater; his sisters, Cheryl Beightol and her husband, Randy, and Janice Griswold and her husband, James; and his grandchildren, Hunter McVay, Jaycie McVay, and Bentley Morrow all of Franklin. He is additionally survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father; his sisters, Judith Shouey and Linda Hefferman; and his brother-in-laws, Merl Hefferman Sr. and Reid Shouey.Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Thursday, July 24, 2014, from 3:00PM - 7:00PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 25, 2014 at Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Lonny Wolford pastor of the Fox Street Church of God, officiating. I’ve known joe since High School and my daughter and his Daughter are friends, Joe was a very Loving and caring person,he would help any body out who needed it,he was quit the Comedian at times too,he loved his Girls and Grand kids with all his heart he was an awesome dad.joe will be missed by so many,he was a great guy!!!

  7. I am so sorry for your loss . I am so glad to have grown up knowing him for as long as i did . Everytime i would run in to him we would talk and joke around . This has been a rough few weeks for you all and my heart aches . I ams sorry i am unable to make it today or tomorrow but i am thinking of you all and if you need anything please let me know .
