James N. Chapin, 63, of 612 Liberty Street ,Franklin died at 6:30 AM on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at UPMC-Northwest Seneca. Born December 10, 1949 in Cranberry, PA, James was the son of the late Walter and Charlotte M. (Shull) Chapin. On June 23, 1973 He married Linda McClure. James was employed as a custodian for 36 years for the Valley Grove School District and retired from there in 2006. He was a member of the Rocky Grove Lions Club, numerous bowling leagues, and the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department. James enjoyed the Rocky Grove Firemans Fair and he loved kids. In addition to his wife, James is survived by his brother, Ronald W. Chapin and his wife, Sue of LeGrange, North Carolina; his sister, Shirley Eaton of Cooperstown; his nephews, Billy Chapin of North Carolina, Scott Chapin of Oil City, Ronnie Chapin of Oil City, and Boyd Eaton Jr. of Cooperstown; his niece Karen Shaw of Franklin; his special friend Nicole Troilo of Franklin; and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Jamie L. Chapin and April M. Chapin; his brothers, Melvin and Thomas Chapin; and his sister, Phyllis Chapin. Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Saturday, February 16, 2013 from 7-9 PM and on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 2-6 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 18th, 2013 at the funeral home, with Elder Dan Butler, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating.
