Edward Myrl Borger Edward Myrl Borger, 99, of 351 Causeway Drive, Franklin, passed away at 9:05 p.m., November 4, 2011, at Sugar Creek Station, where he had resided for the past several years. Born June 6, 1912 in Sunville, PA, Edward was the son of the late Myrl and Gertrude Reib Borger. He was married to the former Dorothy Davis on June 6, 1931, and she preceded him in death on March 29, 1989. Edward was a United States Army Veteran having served as a Combat Engineer in the European Theater from May 3, 1943 until December 8, 1945. While in the Army, Mr. Borger served with Company A 157th Engineer Combat Battalion, and was the recipient of a Bronze Star Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Victory Medal, and an EAME Theater Service Medal with 4 Bronze Stars. Mr. Borger attended Cooperstown High School until 1927 and was a 1928 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. He was employed with the PA Game Commission from 1946 until 1974 as a Game Protector. Edward was a breeder of sporting dogs. He is survived by his sons, Edward M. Borger, Jr. and his wife, Edee, of Lindale, Texas, and Arthur D. Borger and his wife, Leslie, of Cochranton; and his daughter, Becky Sue Sundra and her husband, Ian, of Matthews, North Carolina. He is additionally survived by his grandchildren, David Borger and his wife, Krista, of Franklin, Nicolas, Natalie, and Nicole Borger of Lindale, Texas, and Allissa Borger of Cochranton. In addition to his parents and wife, Edward was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace, Billy, Maurice, Richard and Neil Borger; and his sisters, Marian Borger, Geraldine Brink and Susan Miheleder. A Memorial Service for Edward will be held at a later date at the convenience of his family. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, has been entrusted with arrangements.
