Arlynn "Ruby" Payne Arlynn "Ruby" Payne, 79, of Buttermilk Hill Road, Franklin, passed away on Friday, August 05, 2011, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca. Born September 28, 1931, in Oil City, Ruby was the daughter of the late Samuel and Arena Mae Lawrence Oglesby. She was married to Charles D. Payne on July 17, 1954 and he survives. Ruby attended Roberts Wasleyan College in Rochester, New York. Ruby was a homemaker. She was a member of the Franklin Free Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She also was a cook for Church Camps in Western PA and Florida. Ruby enjoyed selling antiques and reading. She was also a former Girl Scout Leader and 4-H Leader. She was a life-time member of the Rocky Grove VFD Auxillary and a member of the Utica VFD Auxillary. In addition to her husband, Ruby is survived by her two sons, James R. Payne and his wife, Tonia, and Ronald D. Payne, all of Franklin; and her daughter, Susan Buchanan and her husband, Paul, of Titusville. She is additionally survived by her five grandchildren, Jennifer King and her husband, Andy, of Franklin, James Payne of Franklin, James Hutcheson of Titusville, Ben Hutcheson, serving in the armed forces in Kuwait, and Ashley Payne, at home; and her great-grandsons, Alexander King and Maxwell King, both of Franklin. Ruby is also survived by her two brothers, Rev. George Oglesby and his wife, Elloise, of Pleasantville, and Donald Oglesby and his wife, Elsa, of Emlenton; and her three sisters, Hazel Weaver of Lamartine, Anna Winkler and her husband, Herman, of Emlenton, and Ellen Hornburg and her husband, Norman, of Cherry Grove, PA. In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel Lawrence Oglesby, who died on August 22, 1947 in Monfalcone, Italy while serving in the armed forces; her sister, Mary Jane Oglesby Winkler, who died on November 21, 2008; and her brother-in-law, Harold Winkler, who died on June 3, 1998. Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. T. Christopher Hill, pastor of the Free Methodist Church in Oil City, officiating. Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Utica Volunteer Fire Department.
