David Paul Fornof David Paul Fornof, 79, of 674 Grant Street, Franklin died Friday, August 19, 2011, in his home after courageously battling cancer. Born January 19, 1932 in Oil City, David was the son of the late Wayne and Beatrice Fornof. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and traveled around the world on the U.S.S. Daly DD-519. While in the Navy, David was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal (1 star), and the United Nations Service Medal. After his military service, David became a highly respected auto mechanic in the Washington, D.C. area. In 1994, upon his retirement, David moved to Franklin, where he took up his beloved hobbies of woodworking and oil painting. He was also an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and hiking. David is survived by his son, Daniel Wayne Fornof of Manassas, Virginia, his daughter, Michele Lynn Fornof of Akron, Ohio, his niece, Darla Brooks of Franklin, and his niece, Beatrice Little of North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Jones. David wished to be cremated and respectfully declined any formal service. The Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin has been entrusted with arrangements. No calling hours will be observed. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Visiting Nurses Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin PA 16323.
