Mary Cassano Mary Cassano, 86, of 439 Pacific Street, Franklin, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010 at UPMC Northwest Medical Center, Seneca, Pa. Born April 20, 1923 in Franklin, she was the daughter of Joseph and Josephine Toscano. She was married June 7, 1952 to Albert Cassano at St. Patrick Church by Msgr. Grocket. Mrs. Cassano retired in 1951 from Franklin Plastics. She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the America. She was active in school fundraisers and was a leader of Girl Scout Troops 410 and 488. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking, reading and spending time vacationing with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cassano is survived by her children, Marie Cassano of Franklin, with whom she resided, Paul and Karen Cassano of Austintown, Ohio, Mike and Joan Cassano of Franklin, Maggie and Mike Euless of Franklin, Albert and Rosemary Cassano of New Castle; her grandchildren, Mike and Neisha Cassano of Franklin, Lauren Cassano of Franklin, Sam, Georgia and Jesse Cassano of Austintown, Ohio, Mary Euless of Pittsburgh, Meghan and Ryan Oakes of Lafayette, Indiana, Michelle and Matt Shiley of Franklin, John and Nikki Cassano of New Castle, Chris and Kristen Cassano of New Wilmington and Damian Cassano of New Castle. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, Cole and Darius Cassano of Franklin, Isabella and Sophia Cassano of New Castle, Preston Oakes of Lafayette, Indiana, and Corabel Shiley of Franklin. She is also survived by one brother, Joseph D. Toscano of Erie; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Toscano of Erie and Patricia Toscano of Franklin. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cassano was preceded in death by her husband, Albert P. Cassano; 3 brothers, Carmen D. Toscano I, Nazzareno A. Toscano, and Carmen D. Toscano II and a granddaughter, Lindsay Cassano. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 5th, at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday by Deacon Richard Reed. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church with the Msgr. William Karg as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
