Mathilda Buntich

Mathilda Buntich, 95, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at UPMC Northwest surrounded by friends that loved her very much. Tillie, as her friends knew her, was born on February 1, 1916 at the family's home on Tustin Street in the Soho (South Homestead) area of Pittsburgh, PA. She was the oldest daughter of the late Matthew Buntich and Amanda Duk (Zuk) Buntich. Tillie had currently lived at the Meadowside Building, which is part of Polk Center where she had resided since 1923. She was known for her collection of watches of which she had 236, bead necklaces (119), and stuffed kitties (28). She enjoyed her coffee and tea. Tillie also enjoyed attending Senior Center during the day where she loved sitting in the sun. Tillie was loved by all staff who knew her and will be greatly missed. Mathilda is survived by her sisters Ann Mae Cyphers and Madeline Ciply; a niece Nancy Murick, and a nephew Richard Elsner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary, Katherine, and Lucy; her brother, Matthew; and two other brothers. Committal services for Mathilda will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Patricks Cemetery Chapel. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 2:45 p.m. at the Meadowside Building Commons Area at Polk Center.
