Ida Lorraine Berlin Ida Lorraine Berlin, 94, formerly of Park Street, Franklin, passed away at 3:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, at The Caring Place, where she had resided for the past several years. Born April 24, 1916, in Doland, South Dakota, Ida was the daughter of the late William and Dora Goodwill Wright. She was married May 29, 1939 to Dale Berlin, and he survives. Ida was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Rocky Grove for more than 65 years. She had been very active in the church and held the position of President of the United Methodist Women. She had also taught Sunday School, Bible School, and had also been the church secretary, treasurer and janitor for many years. In addition to her husband, Ida is survived by her daughters, Marjorie L. Confer of Franklin, and Margaret S. Hughes and her husband, Terry, of Wellford, South Carolina; her grandchildren, Joseph M. Freehling and his wife, Megan, of Moore, South Carolina, and Timothy M. Freehling, of Pacolet, South Carolina; and a son-in-law, Michael Freehling, also of Pacolet, South Carolina. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Wright and his wife, Jean, of Ohio. In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her son-in-law, William Confer; her brothers, William Wright, Merle Wright and Floyd Wright; and her sisters, Irene Slye, Joanne Kuivinen, Beulah Kimes, and June Woods. Family and friends of Ida will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, on Friday, March 25, from 3 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services for Ida will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, March 26, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Linda Deeter, pastor of The Caring Place, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Christian Loving Fund, c/o The Caring Place, 103 N. 13th Street, Franklin PA 16323.
