Ruby E. Deeter, 85, of 208 South Park St., Franklin, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home. Born Jan. 21, 1924, in Pittsfield, she was the daughter of Leo Wade Burt and Elva Mae VanGuilder Burt. Mrs. Deeter was a retired nurses aide and was formerly employed by Oil City Hospital. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo and her family. She married Gaylord E. Deeter on Jan. 18, 1946, and he preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1984. Mrs. Deeter is survived by two children, Bonnie Monarch of Franklin and James Deeter and his wife, Ida, of Titusville; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Proper of Franklin, Delores Frankenberger of Oil City and Joann Tenza and her husband, Ed, of Titusville; and one brother, Jack Burt and his wife, Sandy, of Titusville. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Deeter was preceded in death by one son, Ronald Deeter; two brothers, Clair Burt and Ronald Burt; and one sister, Ruth Humes. The Gardinier Funeral Home Inc. in Franklin is in charge of arrangements, and there will be no visitation. Details about a memorial service will be announced at a later time.
