Sara L. Steer Sara L. Steer, 89, of 571 Pioneer Road, Franklin, passed away at 6:15 p.m., Sunday, April 4, at Sugar Creek Station. Born September 30, 1920, in Sugarcreek Boro, she was the daughter of the late William B. and Hazel L. Hart Cauvel. She was married October 4, 1942 to Raymond C. Steer, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Steer was a 1938 graduate of Rocky Grove High School. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Oil City. She retired in 1984 from the Medical Mutual Insurance Company (formerly known as Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Northeast Ohio), where she had worked as a Supervisor in the Claims Department. Mrs. Steer is survived by her step-son, Eugene Steer of Venus; her two sisters, Betty Richey and Mary Ann Cauvel, both of Franklin; her sister-in-law, Doris Cauvel; her niece, Candice Cauvel; and her nephew, Jack Cauvel, all of Boonville, Indiana. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Jack Cauvel, William Cauvel & Ernest Cauvel; and her two nephews, Samuel Cauvel and Thomas Cauvel. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8 at the Gardinier Funeral Home Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Borger, pastor of the Titusville First Baptist Church, presiding. Interment will follow in Clintonville Methodist Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the North Shore Animal League of America - 16 Lewyt Street, Port Washington, NY 11050.   1. Sara, even though I didn’t get to see you much, I will miss you. You were “my lady” when we worked together. I was young and you took me under your wing. You gave me Crystal and I loved her for 14 years. You have found your place with God. Until I see you again please know you were my favorite lady.

    We were so sorry to hear about Sara. I see her and mom spelled their names the same. I bet Grandma Weaver had something to do with that. We will miss seeing her out in the yard and her shaking her cane. She sure was a dear woman. Danny sure felt bad too. She always had a smile for us. We will miss her. Our thoughts are with you all at this time.
