Alice Lorraine Steetle

Alice Steetle, 74, of 3845 Academy St., Utica, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at her residence. Born March 12, 1935, in Franklin, she was a daughter of Luther and Suzanne Jones Heffernan. Mrs. Steetle was a homemaker. She was a devoted and caring wife and mother. She worked hard as a homemaker, doing anything asked of her, and was respected throughout Utica. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, reading and playing games with her family and friends. She was married Nov. 15, 1952, to Charles Robert Steetle Jr., who survives. Survivors also include eight children, Charles R. Steetle III of Utica, Brice A. Steetle of Utica, Scott A. Steetle of Utica, Keith O. Steetle of Franklin, Todd M. Steetle of Utica, Robin C. Eakin of Utica, Beth A. Reed of Abingdon, Va., and Karen L. Steetle of Utica; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Guelich; a granddaughter, Ivy L. Steetle; and two great-grandsons. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Gardinier Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev.
