Karl C. White, 84, of 1293 Grandview Rd., Oil City, formerly of Lakewood N.Y., died at 10:50 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008, in the Oil City Golden LivingCenter. Born June 10, 1924, in Franklin, he was the son of Frank White and Eva Young. Mr. White received two purple hearts while serving with the army in World War II. He retired from Cytemp Steel of Titusville, where he worked for 32 years as a maintenance worker. He was a former member, past president and past secretary of the Lions Club and enjoyed his family, fishing and gardening. He was married July 16, 1945 to Edna M. Fordyce, who survives. Also surviving are two children, Christine L. Bromley and husband, James, of Meadville and Catherine Hines of Seneca; a brother, Floyd White, of Washington; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lee White; five brothers, Chester, Richard, Edwin, Melvin and Frank White; and three sisters, Alice Patterson, Gertrude Brown and Gladys Haun. There will be no visitation and funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at the Reno Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
