  1. So sorry to hear of Larry’s passing. He was a great guy who was a friend to all. When asked by a JV basketball player when he would start a game, he was told, “It will be a cold day in hell!” Sure enough that cold winter their was a headline in the paper, ” It’s a cold day in Hell! (Wyoming) ” Sure enough, Coach Holly started that young man the next game! A man true to his word. RIP Coach.

  2. Rest in peace Larry. I worked in the office next door to OEO while Larry worked there. He was always supportive and kind, a good man. My sympathies to his family! Kathy (Berry) Scherlek

  3. So sorry to hear of Larry’s sudden passing. We met Larry years ago at the Franklin VFW. So many fun nights of stories, jokes and dancing. Our sympathy goes out to Deb and his children. Lynn Fink & Jake Heckathorn

  4. Hi. So sorry for your loss. I was a clasmate of Larry’s at Union High. I will always remember Larry for his sweet smile and a kind way about him. He accepted his nickname in stride. I think it started that he had a little dip in his nose and he would remark that it was like a ski slope. Then someone would say a ski Skeet. He would laugh and agree. I’m sure his sweet manor carried through his life and he will be missed. God Bless you all . Sincerely, Jennifer Buterbaugh Sczerba

  5. Coach was a kind and caring human being. Knew sports like no one else. When you met him it’s like you knew him all your life. Rest in Peace Larry. God Bless.

  6. Coach, I’m always going remember when I was Coaching at RG and Franklin the talks we had before games, lol. Then, I’d see you frequently at the Elks or Eagles and we’d talk about anything from sports to music. You’d almost always leave the conversation with, “Coach (he called me Coach too), remember the team that scores the most points wins the game”! Yes, Coach Holly, you won at this game of life by scoring plenty of points, thanks for the memories, you’ll be missed. Coach Steve

  7. I had the pleasure of working with Larry at both The Venango County CYS and the OEO Offices. My sympathies go out to his family. Rest In Peace Larry.

  8. Larry was “one of the good ones.” We worked together for years in the CYS Intake Unit. He was kind and compassionate, and the guy you could count on for anything. I would bump into him when he moved over to OEO, and then when he worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart after his retirement (the perfect job for him!) He was always good for a warm hello, a great story, and a good laugh or two. My condolences to his family and friends. I’m sure he will be missed by many.

  9. We were sorry and saddened to hear about Larry’s unexpected passing. Larry and I were teaching colleagues at Rocky Grove High School for many years. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad and difficult time. Rosalyn and Keith Miller

  10. Ah, soaked in sweat, endless hours at a bucket nailed to a tree. A foot of snow, so George’s barn, pitch dark save one lightbulb, young lungs sucking in cold air soaked in hay, exhaling pails of steam, Sensible people went home. Two nuts played on. One on one with the kid that never missed a ‘J’. Ah, that was heaven on earth. Love you Skeet.

  11. Coach, you will be missed. I’ve always enjoyed our conservations about baseball and football. We always had something to BS about. I will always be looking to see you at the table. Rest in Peace.

  12. Rest Easy Mr.Holly I wish I would of asked you about your scoring record you set in your High School days when you were at the Fourth of July party at Chad’s

  13. I have fond memories of Coach Holly driving us to Cross Country meets and rooting for us to “catch that bear “ if we were behind a competitor in a race . And he was a great teacher. I miss him as I remember those wonderful times. My condolences to his family. Randall Woods

  14. My prayers go out to Deb and his family. Coach Larry will be greatly missed by so many. I’ll miss his wonderful stories and jokes he shared, spreading so much joy and happiness.
