Esther W. Mierke, 89, of Meadville, passed away, Friday, December 17, 2021 at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community. She was born on February 4, 1932 in Erie, Pennsylvania a daughter of Walter Wollman and Emma Bohn Wollman. She married Alan Lee Mierke on September 9, 1960. He preceded her in passing on July 20, 1992. She was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and was employed with Meadville City Hospital for 22 years as secretary to the Nursing Director and Social Services. Esther was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the church choir. She was also a member of Thesaurus Reading Group, Bible Study Group at Juniper Village, and Choral Singing Group. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching ball games, but most of all she loved time with her family. Esther is survived by a daughter, Laura Gigogne and her companion Ric of Conneaut Lake; three sons, Peter A. Mierke and his wife Kimberly Jo of Cambridge Springs, Paul C. Mierke and his wife Cassie of Wattsburg, and Stephen E. Mierke of Guys Mills; grandchildren, Jessica Rubio and her husband Robert, Pamela Lipps and her husband Jeremy, William Gigogne, Raina Marie Mierke, Hannah Elizabeth Mierke, Stephen Mierke II, Nicole Mierke, and Barry Mierke; great grandchildren, Genevieve Bloss, Maura Bloss, Maliyah Mierke, Colton Mierke, Alexander Lipps, and Karisma Mierke; a sister in law, Adele Wollman; and nephews, Eric and Karl Wollman. In addition to her husband; she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert, Walter, and Wilfred Wollman; a sister, Dorothy Wollman; and a daughter in law, Melissa Mierke. Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday, December 20th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, December 21st at 10:00am at Erie Cemetery, Erie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, 31 N. Main Street, Meadville, Pennsylvania 16335. To help those who may not have means.   1. Esther and her family lived next door to ours during my early HS years. I loved having conversations with her, because she actually listened! LOL We shared a love of baking and she entrusted me with her best chocolate cake recipe…that had come glued in the bottom of her cake pan! Best of all…her laugh!! Hearing her laugh made you happy!
