We lived right across the road from Doris and Leonard while I was growing up. We would see Doris walking over to check her mailbox and call out to our mom, “Doris is coming! Put on the coffee!” And she’d always stop in, have a cup, and chat. She was one of my favorite people. She always had a good story to tell.
Our condolences to the family of this wonderful lady, always a smile, great dancer, worker, friend, with many fond memories, so sorry to Leonard and family,
Doris was great lady. I have known the family since i was a young boy, Leonard and Doris have been good friends with my parents for years she will sadly missed by are whole family. Leonard and family you have our sympathy.
My deepest condolences to Doris’s family. She was a wonderful person. I enjoyed encountering her when I was out and about.
Leonard, I only met you and Doris one time, but I found you to be a delightful couple, and I’m so very sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you and your family.
When we moved into the neighborhood forty three years ago, Doris and Leonard were one of the first to welcome us. We were from the city and we relied on them to introduce us to country living and they did.
Doris and Leonard welcomed our daughter’s second grade class for a day on the farm. The students were from Erie so seeing cows was a new experience. Milking them was a little tricky and for some a little scary but they all loved the goat! All enjoyed the hayride and the pumpkins that Doris gave them. The kids had so many stories to tell about their day and the nice lady that lived there.
Doris liked to entertain and was always willing to have our get together at her home. She had a way of making you feel so welcomed and comfortable.
We will always remember her smile, sense of humor as she told her stories, generosity and kind spirit.
She will be missed.
She was more than a neighbor, she was a friend.
