Melinda Jean Craig, 66 of Meadville, passed away, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at The Marquette Hospice House after an extended illness. She was born in Norfolk, VA Naval Hospital on July 31st , 1954, to the late Howard O and Jean Kress Caldwell. She was married to Russell Craig. Melinda wanted to be a nurse as a young girl and after Nursing school, worked as a visiting nurse and in assisted living care including Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community for almost 40 years. Friends, family and patients remember her kind loving nature and sense of humor. At the age of ten, she and two other friends, wrote a song “Don’t Come to Me A’ Cryin.” It was published and reported with photos in The Meadville Tribune. She was an accomplished clarinetist, great cook and created beautiful needlework and poetry. In addition to her husband, Melinda is survived by her sons, Walter Sposkoski, Jr., Daniel (Lacy) Sposkoski and grandchildren Lucy, Zach, Marissa, Alaina; sister, Robin (Steve) Blomquist and her brother James Caldwell and niece Dana Blomquist and nephew Kurt Blomquist. Melinda was preceded in death by her brothers Christopher and Richard Caldwell. For those who are comfortable attending, a public viewing will be held on Sunday, September 6 th , 2020 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335. A memorial service will be held St. Agatha Church at 353 Pine Street on Monday, September 7th, 2020, 10:00 A.M. with Father Andrew Boyd, officiating. Please wear a mask and observe social distancing. The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice of Crawford County for their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County at 766 Liberty St. Meadville, PA 16335.
