Richard Joseph Grant Caldwell, 71 of Meadville, passed away, Friday, June 19, 2020 at Rolling Fields Elder Care Community. He was born on April 24, 1949 in Meadville, to the late Howard and Jean Kress Caldwell. He married Celia Kuehner on August 23, 1993. Rick was a well-rounded man with many talents. He was an accomplished writer having published four books of prose and poetry - his talents were immeasurable. He was proud to be a member of The Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Rick had a lifelong love of learning and was a proud graduate from the University of Notre Dame with degrees in French and Spanish. Rick (and Celia) were two of the founding members of the Crawford County Mental Health Awareness Program (CHAPS). He was a Drop-In Center Manager for many years, and also worked the Warm line. He was warm, gracious and supportive to everyone he encountered. He approached life with amazing grace and wisdom. In addition to his beloved wife, Rick is survived by his stepchildren, Matthew Simon Emano; Christopher Wiley and Cassandra Elliott; sisters, Melinda Craig and Robin Blomquist and his brother James Caldwell. Rick was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy McCullough Caldwell; and his brother Christopher Caldwell. For those who are comfortable attending, a public viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 23th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc, 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335. We will be adhering to CDC guidelines, and ask that your visit be brief, as to keep capacity below 50%. Masks are required to come to viewing and the memorial service. A memorial service will be held there on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, at 10:00 A.M. with Father Andrew Boyd, officiating. For those not comfortable with attending, we will also be live streaming the service on Rick's Book of Memories online at www.warrenfh.com by clicking the webcasting link on the bottom of the page. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CHAPS, 944 Liberty St, Meadville, PA 16335. The family would like to thank the staff at Rolling Fields Elder Care Community, Dr. Oiler, CHAPS and Hospice of Crawford County.
