Willis L. Arnold

Willis Lyman Arnold, Jr. of Spearfish, SD passed from this life into the Kingdom of God on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the age of 95. Willis was born August 30, 1922 and raised in Townville, PA where he was the third generation owner and operator of the Willis L. Arnold Funeral Home for 50 years. He was a devoted husband and father. Willis was a veteran of WWII and recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and Combat Medal for his heroism in the Pacific Theater. Before moving to Spearfish in 2001, he was always active in his community of Townville including over 50 years in the Lions Club.. Willis was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Zola McCrillis Arnold and his son Philip Brian Arnold, 1 brother and 3 sisters. He is survived by daughter, Polly Mitchell (Bill) of Charlotte, NC, Kathy DiDomenico (Rob) of Rapid City, SD, Karla Scovell (Scott) of Spearfish, SD and Stephen Arnold (Maura) of Pittsburgh, PA. Willis was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service is planned for Willis on Saturday, October 20 at 1:00pm at Townville Baptist Church, Townville, PA. His family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in his honor to the Spearfish Veterans Monument, PO Box 803, Spearfish, SD 57783 or to the Townville Lions Club.
