SAEGERTOWN - Floyd J. Smith, 65, of Saegertown, passed away peacefully in his home, July 28, 2015, surrounded by family. He was born in Oil City, on August 11, 1949, son of the late Floyd W. and Rosalia M. Smith. He married Melodie Smith on June 13, 1997, she preceded him in death on January 19, 2015. Floyd served in the United States Navy and worked for Conair. He was a member of the VFW Post 169 and American Legion Posts 205 and 381. Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Cox of Franklin, son Eric Smith of Franklin, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also three sisters, Joanne Evans and her husband Bob of Oil City; Donna Reagle and her husband Jim of Meadville; and Deloris Reagle of Oil City and two brothers, Chuck Smith of Cleveland and Dallas Smith of Dempseytown, PA. Floyd was an active member of the Veterans' community, having served as Post Commander of VFW Post 464 in Oil City, PA, as well as Post Chaplain of VFW Post 205 in Venango, PA. An avid Navy Veteran, Floyd readily pursued every opportunity to challenge his brothers and sisters in arms, especially as it pertained to the annual Army vs. Navy football game. He greatly enjoyed and boasted about the 13 year winning streak Navy holds over the Army. Floyd equally loved the Cleveland Browns and Jeff Gordon's racing. He proudly embraced being the outsider while living amidst Steeler and Earnhardt country. Floyd's patriotism and sense of humor will be sorely missed by family, friends, and our Nation's Veteran community. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service, at Ryan M. Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335, Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 11:00 A.M.
