Dolores Irene Crawford Rhoades, 88, died peacefully February 24, 2015, after a short illness at Wesbury United Methodist Home surrounded by her family.
Born August 1, 1926 in Meadville the daughter of Fred and Frances Crawford and sister of Kenneth and Judd Crawford. She married Glenn “Pat” Rhoades August 1, 1946, they celebrated 55 years of marriage before he passed away August 8, 2001.
Dolores was a devoted mother of eight children, but she was most proud of her 24 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and her one great-great granddaughter. As an enthusiastic grandmother she attended many baseball, basketball, volleyball games, wrestling matches, choral concerts, and 4H Dairy Shows. Dolores and her husband loved to square dance, attend local auto races, draft horse shows, the harness races at the Crawford County Fair, as well as attending the State Farm Show for many years. She loved doing puzzles, and playing games with family and friends. She treasured her friends at the Brookside Apartments and most recently at Wesbury where she enjoyed many social activities with them.
She attended Meadville Area High School, then worked at American Viscos and GC Murphy Company. She was a homemaker and also helped her husband care for many dairy herds over their life long farming career. She attended the Bible Baptist Church and later attended the church services at Wesbury Methodist Home where she resided for the past 3 years.
Dolores is survived by her children Janet (Charles) Tucker of Lake Mary, FL; Gloria (Barry) Quigley of Lebanon, PA; Robert “Buggy” (Barbara) Rhoades of North Baltimore, OH; Ron “Froggy” Rhoades and his companion Connie Hyde of Guys Mills, PA; Larry (Krista) Rhoades of Guys Mills, PA; Rick “Rooney” (Debra) Rhoades of Lebanon, PA; Sue (David) Christy of Hydetown, PA; Tim “Ruggy” (Sherri) Rhoades of Meadville, PA. Her grandchildren: Tom (Evelyn) Tucker, Kim (John) Farlik, Kelly Cahalan, Barry (Janine) Quigley, Jr., Melissa (Greg) Rissinger, Samantha Quigley, Carrie (Kenny) Sonnenberg, Julie Lovell, Ashley Rhoades (her fiancé Joe Kerr), Dustin Rhoades, Michael Rhoades, Matthew (Alicia) Rhoades, Shawn Rhoades (his fiancé Marcie Pifer), Joshua (Amanda) Rhoades, Travis (Ashley) Parker, Daniel (Casey) Parker, Katelyn Proper, Darcy Christy, Blake Christy, Duane Christy, Heidi (Matt) Wilcox, Ty Rhoades, Jessica (Micah) Burridge, and Tyler Nies. Her Great-Grandchildren: Jacqueline and Tom Tucker, Ian and Amelia Farlik, Bryce and Tanner Quigley, Tiffany Quigley, Jacob and Brody Long, Chad, Kayla, Chance, and Kylie Sonnenberg, Dalton Lovell, Alex Mason, Harmony Reeves, Colton Rhoades, Maggie and Logan Rhoades, Kayla, Morgan and Sara Pifer, Hayden Hitchcock, Jordan Rhoades, Adrianna, Austin and Mitchell Parker, Bailey Johns, Isabella Parker, Colt Wilcox and her one great-great granddaughter Ava Rosario.
She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn “Pat” Rhoades, her parents Fred and Frances Crawford, a granddaughter Lori Ann Rhoades, her granddaughter-in-law LeAnn Rhoades, and her brothers Kenneth and Judd Crawford.
Friends will be received at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut Street Meadville, on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Philip Torre of First Assembly of God officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
