Melodie Colene (Farren) Smith, 53, passed away in the comforts of her Saegertown home, Monday January 19, 2015. Formerly of Oil City, Melodie (Mel) relocated to Saegertown in 2005, where she lived with and cared for her husband, Floyd J. Smith, and mother, Delores J (Erwin/Farren/Clark) Sloop. Born February 25, 1961, Mel was a graduate of Cranberry Sr. High School in Seneca, PA. Mel maintained a genuinely kind and caring spirit, readily willing to give her all to family and friends in need. She employed her creativity through designing artworks, using recycled materials as her medium. Mel also enjoyed crocheting and recently completed an afghan for a charity fund raiser. Her selfless service was best exemplified through her social volunteer work with the West Mead 2 Fire Department. She was also a member of West Mead 2 Auxiliary. Mel actively supported our Veteran's community, holding memberships with Saegertown American Legion Post 205, Cambridge Springs American Legion Post 381, and Venango VFW Post 168. Mel was preceded in death by her father, Albert L. Farren, and niece, Audreanna E. Albaugh. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Smith, of Saegertown; mother, Delores Sloop, of Saegertown; sister, Cindy M. (Farren) Reese, of Saegertown; brother, Timothy M. Farren, of Marienville; a niece; several cousins, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Melodie will be dearly missed by all who were blessed by her smile, laughter, and kindred spirit. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service, on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335, at 11:00 A.M..   1. Mel will be sadly missed. She was always a joyful person to be around. I enjoyed working with her at Wal-mart. Sorry for your loss and my prayer and thoughts are with you and your family.
