John Hazlett, Sr. of Townville passed away at home surrounded by his family. “Jack” was born on 3-22-1937 in Rockland, PA, to Lee and Ethel (Logue) Hazlett. He was the seventh of ten children, two of whom survive: Paul Hazlett and his wife, Keitha, of Townville, and Michael Hazlett and his wife, Fran, of Cooperstown. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers, and his son, John, Jr., in January of 2004. Surviving also are his wife of 56 years, Judy (Imler) and daughter Sherry Lee Smith and her husband, John O. Smith, all of Townville; and cherished granddaughter Arielle Nannette Carlson and her husband, Brandon, of Baltimore, MD. He considered his son-in-law, John O. to be his best friend, and the two were inseparable. Jack had numerous nieces and nephews, and never met a child he didn’t love.
He was a 1955 graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville and was co-founder of Hazlett Tree Service, serving as its president from 1966 until his retirement in 2004.
Jack was a born-again Christian and enjoyed sharing his love of God, offering the comfort of the Gospel to many. During his final days, Jack was cared for at home by Judy, Sherry, John O. and Arielle, with the added blessing of Hospice care during his final week on earth. His kindness and sense of humor will be missed by family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cristian Popescu; and Dona, Kati, Tricia, with special thanks to Debbie Stallard, angels from Hospice of Crawford County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Townville Volunteer Fire Department and Ladies Auxiliary.

Growing up in Townvillle, I can never remember anything about this man that wasn’t kind. Thank you so much for letting me be apart of his last days here….I am humbled.
Judy & Family, We were saddened to hear of Jack’s passing. We have fond memories of both of you after meeting down here at Florida Holiness Campground several years ago and becoming one of the “Keystone Kids”. John was a wonderful, caring man and friend. May God bring comfort and peace to you and your family Judy during this time of celebration of Jack’s Homecoming.

Dear Hazlett Family,
We were saddened to hear of the loss of Jack, what a kind and caring person. He was the first and only boss to talk to me about Jesus and Salvation. His way with the men on the jobs was always calm and respectful. Even the toughest people responded to him. We were blessed to have him in our lives. Thank you for giving us a special time in our lives of opportunity, growth and friendships. We know he will be greatly missed. With love and fond memories,
Jeff & Janet Yoder
