Lillian I. Dennis, 94, of Liberty Street, Meadville, formally from Cumberland, MD, passed away on September 14, 2014 at her daughter’s home.
She was born June 24, 1920 in Bruceton, West Virginia, daughter of Lester and Nina Butler.
She attended the Church of the Brethren in Danville, Maryland.
Her husband of 48 years, Clyde R. Dennis, preceded her in death December 19, 1996. Also, preceding her in death was her sister Blanche Myers of Woodbridge, Virginia and great-granddaughter Kaitlynn Marie Shaffer, of Meadville.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Twigg and her fiancé, Jon of Cumberland, Maryland and Diana Shaffer and her husband, Bob of Meadville; seven grandchildren, Greg Goss and his wife, Tina of Cumberland, Maryland, Staci Oree and her husband, Carl of Hagerstown, Maryland, Donald Shaffer and his wife, Karen of Pittsburgh, Michael Shaffer and his wife, Tiffany of Greenville, Indiana, Philip Shaffer and his wife, Tawnya of Meadville, Brian Sweitzer and his fiancé, Nicole Stratton of Cumberland, Maryland and Chris Sweitzer and his wife, Tiffany of Cumberland, Maryland; seventeen great-grandchildren, Landon, Lukas, Lakenn, Alexandra, Carter, Trevor, Ian, Desmond, Darius, Malik, Jordan, Makai, Xavier, Landen, Rowan, Jayson, and Skylar; one great-great-grandchild, Darion.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Interment will be held at Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Maryland on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 1:00 P.M.
