Robert C. Franz, 81, of Meadville, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Meadville Medical Center after a period of declining health.
He was born in Meadville on August 23, 1932, a son of Karl M. and Hazel P. (Coe) Franz. He married Jeanette C. Hargenrater on October 1, 1971. She survives
He attended Meadville Area High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran, honorably discharged from WWII after serving his country during the Korean War.
Bob retired from Kebert Construction of Meadville after 25 years of service. He had previously been employed by the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad and Talon.
He was a 50 year member of Crawford Masonic Lodge #408.
Bob enjoyed classic cars and sharing coffee and conversation at McDonald's with "the boys".
Bob was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was cherished by his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Jeanette C. Franz of Meadville, he is survived by; two daughters, Stephanie C. Franz of Meadville and Amy C. Lippert and her husband Michael of Meadville; four grandchildren, Emma, Allison, Matthew, and Baby Lippert due in September; in-laws, Ron and Lee Petersen, Mike and Mary Ann Lynch, and Margaret Winters all of Meadville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helene M. Franz; two brothers, Carl M. Franz and Harold J. Franz; and two brother in laws, Stanley Hargenrater, Jr. and Jack Winters.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, June 9th at Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Father Matthew Kujawinski, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Saint Agatha Cemetery with full military honors being performed by Huidekoper VFW Post 2006 Color Guard.
