MEADVILLE — Harold Chester Henry, 89, of Meadville, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Meadville Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 17, 1924, in Meadville, a son of Chester Arthur Henry and Lottie Frances Tenny Henry. He married Doris Rae Smith on June 14, 1961. She preceded him in death on April 28, 1992. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Highways. Harold was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid reader, enjoyed working in his shed and loved spending time with his family and his dogs. Harold is survived by two sons, Larry Lee Henry and his wife, Bozena, of Kempner, Texas, and Harold Richard Henry of Geneva; two daughters, Betty DeRoss and her companion, Jacob Lucas, of Meadville, and Joanne Deeter and her husband, Wayne, of Meadville; four granddaughters, Chris Anthony, Carolyn McCool, Beth Humphreys and Angela Humphreys; sons-in-law and friends, Thomas Anthony, Ralph McCool, Ted Humphreys, Mike Long and Steven Humphreys; 10 great-grandchildren, Katrina McCool, Ethan Humphreys, Taylor Humphreys, Shelby Anthony, Miranda Humphreys, Nolan Humphreys, Garrett McCool, Pheonix Humphreys, Alexis Sutter and Austin Sutter; two great-great grandchildren, Caden and Ava Long; two sisters, Charlotte Henry of Meadville and Nina Tingley of Greenville; a brother, Robert K. Henry of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris; his parents; a great-grandchild, Alissa McCool; a daughter-in-law, Linda Henry; a granddaughter, Jessica Sutter; three sisters, Helen, Doris and Evelyn; and three brothers, Donald, Lawrence and Loren. Grandpa, take care and don’t take any wooden nickels. Family and friends may call today from 2 to 3 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. The funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 3 p.m., with Pastor Marshall Lillie officiating. Interment will take place at Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
