C. Kent Armstrong, 78, of Dingman Road, Guys Mills, PA went to be with Jesus of Friday evening, July 19, 2013 at the Titusville Hospital after a 10 year struggle with Alzheimer dementia. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Ramona Fairman Armstrong, three sons, Terry Armstrong, Rodney Armstrong and his wife Lorraine and Dale Armstrong and his wife Teri; grandchildren, Ben Armstrong and his wife Amy, Zack Armstrong, Ethan Armstrong, Ian Armstrong, Kirsten Armstrong and Jesse Armstrong; three great-granddaughters, Lena, Addelyne and Kaylin Armstrong; his brother, Larry Armstrong and his wife Nancy of Guys Mills and a sister, Bonnie Montgomery of Athens, New York. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Donna Armstrong and a B=brother Dr. Brian Armstrong. In his earlier years, Kent was an athlete and a farmer. He started his photography career working for The Meadville Tribune and then the Titusville Herald as a news photographer. In 1965, along with his wife, he opened Armstrong Studio in Titusville. Until 1995, he photographed many of Titusville's children and brides but his greatest love was wildlife photography. In 1972, he received recognition from The Pennsylvania Newspaper Publisher's Association for his picture series of bald eagles. He gave many slideshows of his photography jaunts including his trip to Canada to photograph wolves. Along with outdoor photography, fishing in Canada was one of his many loves, and he enjoyed taking boy scout groups on Canadian fishing trips. He and his outdoor traveling companion Pastor Bruce Ladebu of Conneaut Lake, realized their dream when the opening of Amaruq Outdoor Survival Center with its rope course and climbing wall became a reality. With his portable saw mill hooked to the back of his blue suburban, he traveled wherever someone had logs to saw until he could no longer remember how to get home. He spent his remaining years in Sarasota, Florida during the winter and summers at his home in Guys Mills. A memorial service will be held Saturaday, July 27th at 11:00am at Victory Family Worship Center, 10670 Highway 18, Conneaut Lake, PA with Pastor Dale Armstrong of Church of the Word, officiating. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association. 9. I was sad to hear of Kent’s passing and send my condolences to the entire Armstrong family. I will always be thankful to him for helping instill a love of photography in me and allowing me to work along with him for a time. My own baby pictures were taken by him in 1966, followed by senior pictures and then the boys’ toddler pictures in the late 80’s. He was a wonderful man. May he rest in Jesus’ arms now.

  10. Mr. Armstrong took so many of my most memorable photographs, from a family portrait of me as a child with my parents/siblings; my senior pictures; engagement pictures; wedding pictures; to my first born son’s infant pictures. His son, Dale, performed the wedding ceremony between my husband and I. To his wife, Ramona, and all of his family, and friends, my heartfelt sympathy and prayers for comfort and healing during this difficult time.

  11. Dearest Armstrong Family,
We all loved Kent very much. He was an amazing person, even maintaining his positive attitude in public when friends and acquaintenances greeted him. He never let on if he did or did not know us. He loved God and all his creation. We are grateful to have known him. So very sorry for your loss from this earthly dwelling.
    Love, The Sorensons

  12. Ramona, You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your husband, Kent. He took me under his wing and taught me many things about the outdoors. It was a pleasure to have known him and be called his friend.

  13. I remember Kent’s and his dad Ray playing baseball for the Black Ash team several years ago. I often used Kent to take photos of various Elks functions. The last time I recall seeing Kent was at the Titusville VFW swiss steak dinner before I moved to Girard in 2006. Whenever I saw an article concerning bald eagles I would clip it out and mail it to Kent. Always enjoyed our friendship. Our deepest sympathy to the family. Dick and Ellie Kaputa
